^As in the title.
However, I did find/do very very cool things today, such as:
== Crack 2k views!!!!
== Have the longest phone conversation of my life (at least I wasn't paying for it ;))
== Play yet more music
== Get some piano practice in, and thus become ever-so-slightly more prepared for my upcoming exam
== Find out that you can now walk around the OUTSIDE the CN tower. This has been instantly added to my exchange to-do list. MUST DO!!
In fact, I'm going to start checking out Yahoo! news headlines more often, because some of the craziest stuff comes up there... Just skimming through,
== That Norwegian dude is apparently a Templar Knight
== An entire South Dakota town is up for sale! (what)
== Gym-free ways to burn calories... Tiger Woods' backyard... what not to put in your wallet... Kat von D's "tattoo blunder"... etc. etc. And that's not even the dedicated gossip section. Who is this Kat person anyway?
== Chloe, I wanted to find a cute animal video, but there weren't any. :(
Wowzers, how can people stand having news of the world being infiltrated by pop stars? Surely! When I see headlines on Yahoo!, I cringe every time, because celebrity news is given just as much if not more emphasis than actual news of the world. Although I guess if I'm looking for sensible headlines, Yahoo! is not the place to go....
On a slightly different note, Duncan, my keen gamer friend, who also has a blog, has written yet another post, this time a lengthy explanation of his view on benefits of computer gaming. If you like reading about more than just "lol greatest CoD killstreak ever w00t", but still want to read about CoD, this is for you. Although Duncan assures me there is no CoD in the latest post.
Otherwise, I'm still waiting for Guy to update his.
Tomorrow is FRIDAY! Lots of fencing to be done! The inter-house championships are coming up soon (read, as soon as I fix the epèes), and we (Mallett) are determined to see it through. The Ogilvie representation consists of the U17 national champion, the U20 national champion, and the club vice-captain. Mallett has the Armourer, an ex-fencer, and an Asian wonderchild... It will be very very close this year, I can tell :D
I have actually, believe it or not, almost finished learning the notes for my final piano piece. I actually feel a definite sense of accomplishment... I find it really depressing when people don't take their music seriously though, it's honestly one of the greatest opportunities ever. I can understand if you were forced into violin by your parents (brillo Eddie Izzard vid!) but otherwise, if you are playing an instrument or dare I say doing music as a matric subject, you might as well enjoy it. I find that there are indeed many times when I actually have to force myself to rpactice, but most of the time it's actually enjoyable these days.
I used to be like that; I used to only really practice when I had to, and didn't particularly enjoy the learning process of playing the damn piano. Now, recently, I have transitioned to "being awesome instead"... I play pieces for fun, even go into all the trouble of learning more difficult pieces so I can impress chicks/other musically illiterate people. I hardly ever have to actually force myself to practice these days.
This also means that I'll get picked for the orchestra a lot, I can't yet decide whether it's a good or bad thing. When the teachers look at the bunch of average percussionists, they see me full of keenness and spirit and general co-operative functionality and say, my, what an ideal specimen, nevermind the fact that he's not as good as the rest! Although I'm not half bad, started jazz drumming on Wed and I think I might not turn back.
Well, what do you know, I turned out quite a decent music politics rant. See how much of my life is music these days?
I also quit hockey, partly because I was unceremoniously kicked off the team as a direct consequence of being a competitive fencer. Ah well. Not like I was A team or anything.
