Pops 1

Okay, before I start ranting on how awesome Pops was, here's a random picture of me during civvies day, as requested by pretty much everyone I know. Apparently, it's "ostentatious"... Okay, Ismail, I guess.

So, school, fencing, and then off to the buses to get to the City Hall. Super amped, it was literally the most amazing performance I've ever played in. Ever! It's such a weird feeling, being up on stage and playing something you've played a thousand times before, no chances of a re-run, no opportunity for error. I actually knew most of my pieces off by heart, especially the Gershwin bass drum ;)

Whoof, running backwards and forwards, round and round in circles, I had to get my kilt on, kilt off in between items, bleh... One point I ended up running off, pulling pants on, and literally just making it for the next piece. Which I was kind of essential in!

Kudos to everyone who played, we've put like 20 billion hours of rehearsal into it! It was super cool, everyone loved it, Severian got a standing ovation too! Got back home at around midnight, went to sleep at like 1am. I ended up not writing a blog post because of that, so sorry about there not being one yesterday.

What's with these random okes walking onto our buses and trying to sell us sweets!? WTF!? Welcome to SA, I guess...

Anyway, I woke up today, and the Pops Madness continues. Fell asleep in the first two periods, although I did manage to get some work done. I have a feeling I'm not going to do much more of it though. During Music History, we ended up spending the entire period discussing the performance, and we decided (unanimously) that the school should be kicked out and more parents put in. The thing is, the boys in the audience aren't doing anything particularly constructive to the performance, and they end up sitting there not doing anything/chilling on their BlackBerries, and all they end up doing at the end of it is hating classical music even more. Plus, seating boys, especially boarders, on the stage next to the choir, which is quite possibly the worst place to put them. Well, the performance wasn't hindered by it too much, but it would just polish it off nicely.

The good news is it's almost the long weekend! Which means lots of free time.
